Hello, I’m Miguel Toscano 👋#
I’m a Data & AI Specialist at Google Cloud, based in sunny Barcelona, where I help developers and engineering teams build scalable, reliable applications powered by modern data and AI infrastructure. My work focuses on bridging the gap between backend software engineering, cloud architecture, and modern databases—especially PostgreSQL.
I started my career as a consultant at Oracle, which gave me a deep understanding of database migrations, performance tuning, high availability, and scalability in mission-critical environments. Today, these foundational principles remain the essential pillars for building the next generation of AI-driven systems.
Technical Focus#
While my background is built on production databases, today I spend most of my time at the intersection of data and modern AI architectures:
- Vector & Hybrid Search: Implementing semantic search, embedding generation pipelines, and fine-tuning retrieval recall (pgvector, hybrid keyword-vector search).
- Agentic Architectures: Building autonomous AI agents using the Agent Development Kit (ADK) and emerging frameworks, leveraging Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, and designing RAG pipelines grounded in live operational databases.
- Data Architecture: Designing high-availability data infrastructure, zero-downtime database migrations, and resilient hybrid/multi-cloud deployments.
Knowledge Sharing & Speaking#
A few years ago, I couldn’t even imagine myself on a stage speaking to large technical audiences, but then I did it. I discovered that sharing knowledge and experiences is one of my biggest passions.
Since then, I have had the opportunity to speak at international conferences such as WeAreDevelopers and Devoxx Belgium, specialized PostgreSQL events like Nordic PGDay and Swiss PGDay, and developer community events through Google Developer Groups (GDG).

Beyond the Terminal#
When I’m not in front of my laptop, you’ll find me spending time with my two bichitos, playing whatever game they dream up, and heading outdoors whenever possible to explore mountain trails around Catalonia.
When they finally rest, I put on my shoes and go running, my magic formula to reset, clear my mind, and find the right balance between technical challenges and daily life.
